WiK overarch quest... help me out here, would you? - Guild Wars Forums

Okay, so now that they've scaled back BLA, the girlfriend wants to do WiK. I'm trying to get another toon going but I'm jammed up on the damn scavenger hunt. I've given him the candles, drake kabob, and cider. I also gave him 3 pies and 3 pumpkin cookies (I ain't spending the gold on a friggin' cupcake for it) and got the crap rewards.

So why the heck isn't the quest updating and letting me move on?

if you want the "perfect picnic" to take place, you will have to pony up the coin for a birthday cupcake.

I don't care about the picnic... but there's nothing at the link that talks about the problem. The wiki was no help at all, I did look there first.

The problem is this quest will not update past "Assist Keiran with his ill-fated plan to win Gwen's affection" even though I did the stupid scavenger hunt. And he didn't give me any quest called "A good deed" so either the page is wrong or the questline is bugged.

Sorry. You could have used the money you could have had from selling the crap gifts to buy a Cupcake and complete it. I don't understand the dire aversion to buying a Birthday Cupcake.

No, it's not the cupcake. She gave him pumpkin pie and was able to trigger the Evennia cutscene.

And my "aversion to buying a Birthday Cupcake" is that I'm not going to stand around in Kamadan spamming for some jackhole to try and sell me a consumable for 2k.

If you've triggered the Evennia cutscene you're finished with the scavenger hunt. Have you gone to watch Zinn's trial? I was doing this last night and my Kieran quest didn't update until after I had watched the trial. Just guessing.

First of all, chill out people.

If you read the wiki that has actual information you will see that the OP did just fine. The cupcake can be replaced.

However, OP, did you initiate the picnic? After you've given him all of the items, and received all his crap, there will be an additional dialogue option for you to select. I believe it is something along the lines of "Almost? What more could you possibly need?", after which you should be able to warp back to the HoM and witness the Shrew of the North in all her glory.

Other than that, can't say. The only issues (from others) I've come across is accidentally giving the wrong item (drake flesh instead of kabob).

Have you tried just going back into the HoM and seeing if the dialogue triggers? I am pretty sure you need a cupcake tho...

Any 3x sweets will do.

You can go to a [Merchant] in Cantha, buy 3x Red Bean Cakes, and give them to Kieran. He'll go "meh" and give you a bag of junk for each. Done.

Apparently, it was just glitched. Logged back in and suddenly he was willing to update the damn quest so I could watch the Ice Queen trample his poor little ranger heart into hamburger

Thank the gods that's over... Now to just finish the rest of these stupid quests...

Im pretty sure (might be because i started the quest ages ago) you dont even need to help thackeray to even do War in Kryta. I am up to temple of intolerable on one character who currently has a good deed still in her log.

Meh, that's kind of how I feel about it too.

I want to do the content, because I want to accomplish it, and make sure that I'm "up to speed" as far as new content and GW2 comes out. But this part of WiK and the bulk of HotN aren't thrilling me.

I'm not interested in Billy Ray Cyrus's attempts to woo Gwen the Insane. Not even a little.

I was happier when I thought Gwen died during the Searing. Did I say that already?
